  1. Hi Pritham
Congrats on this wonderful farm and your success on hydroponics is amazing. I got your contact details from Sangeetha.
I would like to visit your farm some time. I will let you know when I come to Mangalore.
I have a question for you - cant we germinate the seeds directly in the pot instead of using the germinating tray? Have you tried this or do you have any idea of issues?

    Thanks
    Deepak

  2. thanks for visiting my blog.

yes we can germinate the seeds in normal pots, but it will only waste precious water. in seedling trays, u only need a few drops for the seeds to germinate. then, once they germinate and reach 2 to 3 leaf stage in about 10 days, they can be transplanted in pots... cheers

  4. hello smita
organic seeds in mangalore? well thats very difficult coz there are no stores or shops that specialize in organic vegetables or seeds... u can try in bangalore... or u live in the US of A so u wont have trouble looking for them there....

but if i do... find... then will let u know...

i use local seeds and grow them organically... then some plants are left to make seeds which i re use after they get tropicalized....

  7. thanks Prakhar
i live in a farm, so i dont have a problem with coco peat...but for u i guess it would make sense to buy ti commercially...they are available in 5 kg blocks and are very efficient. and not at all expensive... there is a company in kundapur which also exports coco peat... so i will find out more details and let u know..

  14. Hey Pritham,
I am a student of architecture from New Delhi and is presently doing my final year's thesis on "Aquaponics Research and Formulation Centre" and for the same I have been looking for some live case studies that I can take up. As you must be knowing Aquaponics is the combination of Aquaculture and Hydroponics, and I have failed to find any Aquaponics farm in India. So, for my project I need to conduct the case studies of Hydroponics farms. I am a newbie in this field and have no idea about the techniques for this kind of project. Will it be possible for me to visit your farm and frame my case study report on the same? I have a lot to ask but I suppose the blog here is not the place... I would really appreciate if you could help me!
    Thanks
